Hine-tītama Print

Celebrate the radiant presence of Hine-tītama, the Māori goddess of dawn, with this beautiful print. Hine-tītama represents the first light of day and the hope, purity, and new beginnings that come with it. She is a symbol of resilience, transformation, and the power of facing the truth.

Her Story: Hine-tītama was born as the daughter of Tāne, the god of forests, and Hine-ahuone, the first woman created from the earth. Hine-tītama grew up embodying the light of dawn and the beauty of life itself. She became Tāne's partner, but upon discovering that he was also her father, she was struck by shock and sorrow. Determined to uphold her dignity and strength, Hine-tītama chose to leave the world of light and descend into the underworld, transforming into Hine-nui-te-pō, the goddess who would watch over the spirits of the dead. Her journey signifies the transition from innocence to wisdom and the courage to embrace one’s fate, even in the face of pain.
