Honour the powerful and mysterious presence of Hine-nui-te-pō, the Māori goddess of the underworld, with this striking print. As the guardian of the spirit world, Hine-nui-te-pō embodies the transition between life and death and the eternal cycle of existence, reminding us of the inevitability and sanctity of our journeys.

Her Story: Hine-nui-te-pō began as Hine-tītama, the daughter of Tāne, the god of forests, and an embodiment of dawn. Upon discovering that Tāne was both her father and partner, she was filled with grief and fled to the underworld to become Hine-nui-te-pō, the great goddess who watches over the spirits of the deceased. In her role, she became a guardian of the dead, providing a place of rest and peace. Her most famous encounter was with Māui, the trickster demigod who attempted to achieve immortality by passing through her body. When she realised his intentions, Hine-nui-te-pō ended his quest, ensuring that mortality would remain the destiny of all humankind.
